I went out and found some purple skinny jeans (my thighs are not THAT huge…just my hips and booty…). ANYWHO, found at Old Navy with a green tank. Went and found green bow tie and purple suspenders. Also have a green bow in my hair. Matched up with a purple coat (to hot to wear at the time of images) and some comfy black converse with neon green over sized shoes laces.
This was my first time at a con in costume. I’ve had this costume for a couple of years now but because of my size (I used to be about 320 lbs, I’m around 245 lbs in this photo) I was too afraid. I didn’t want to be seen as just another fat Batman nerd. However seeing so many others out there who I know would be criticised way more than me for simply being a different gender being able to do it, I knew I should try and I loved it. I got lots of compliments and lots of photo requests and now I’m addicted. I want to go to way more cons now as Batman.
So seriously, anyone out there regardless of gender, race, size or any other stupid crap trying to differentiate us, thank you for giving me the confidence to do this.
I have always loved Harley Quinn as a young girl, and I could never find a plus size costume!!!!!This year was the first where I actually got to really be her! My uncle made the hammer for me and I made the pants and covers for the outfit. I had a whole lot of fun and was really glad to do the whole shoot!
This is me in my Riddler (Arkham City version) for Long Beach ComicCon 2012. I’m size 18. I haven’t cosplayed in about 15 years, partly because of my size, but the fat positivity on Tumblr encouraged me to go for it. I made the jacket and cane myself.
I got tons of positive feedback and requests for photos at LBCC, but my favorite was two little girls who ran up to me and asked if they could get a photo with me. A third tiny little girl joined us and their grandfather snapped the picture.

This is me finally getting around to uploading a picture of my Harley Quinn crossplay. Debuted at animenxt ‘12, making some changes, the shorts need to be redone, a lot, and I’m using a white shirt instead of the red with the tie from now on. First ever cosplay completed, I’m pretty happy with it. Also, that Sailor Jupiter does a Harley too, she said she liked my crossplay. :D
My name is Mandi, aka Bella Frankenstein, and I cosplay primarily as Harley Quinn. My weight fluctuates due to my medications for my illnesses and Arthritis, but I’ve always been chubby. I love that I can stand out in a crowd of Harley cosplayers and steal my puddin’ away from the mob everytime! FAT AND FLAWLESS!
This is me cosplaying Harley Quinn from Batman, im about size 16/18 and i absolutely loved cosplaying as Harls, Everyone was so great to me and said i looked great. I got alot of horrible comments online however and i hate that despite having a good hour glass figure of the costume that people still feel the need to point me out as a bad cosplayer when i had sooo much fun on the day.
Your costume is beautiful. Forget those people who made the bad comments online. Some people just want to feel important by trying to find ways to cut down others. Laugh it off, say “fuck them,” and dammit, wear that costume to all the cons because it rocks ultimate and, most importantly, you had fun in it.
